The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially released the results of the 2024 Second Series of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private Candidates.

According to a statement from Moyosola Adesina, Acting Head of Public Affairs at WAEC, a total of 65,023 candidates sat for the examination, with 43,923 candidates (67.55%) securing credit and above in at least five subjects.

Notably, 34,878 candidates (53.64%) met the crucial benchmark of earning credits in five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, representing a 9.35% increase from the 2022 and 2023 results.

The examination was conducted across 5,067 centers, utilizing both traditional paper-and-pen and computer-based testing. Of the total participants, 33,519 were female candidates, making up 51.55% of the exam takers, while 31,504 were male candidates.

WAEC reported that 62,354 candidates (95.90%) have had their results fully processed and released, while 2,669 candidates (4.10%) are still awaiting results due to errors in their scripts. Additionally, 2,577 candidates (3.96%) had their results withheld due to suspected examination malpractice.

The examination body urged candidates with withheld results to check the WAEC Notice of Examination Malpractice portal for further updates.

It also reassured the public of its commitment to ensuring a credible and transparent examination process, while continuing to provide necessary accommodations for candidates with special needs.
