We Are Not Getting Enough MegaWatts To Power 4 States – KEDC.

The Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company ( KEDC), Wednesday decried that the firm was now getting between 150 to 200 megawatts, as against 600 to 700 megawatts it required daily to deliver steady power to Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara and Kaduna states.

Speaking at the closing of the three-day induction programme for the 3,000 newly recruited staff of the company in Sokoto on Wednesday, its Managing Director, Alhaji Garba Haruna, said KEDC was not getting the desired power to distribute to consumers.

He said the firm was making frantic efforts to get alternative sources of energy by partnering with the Sokoto state government on its independent power project and the use of renewable energy sources like wind and solar to ensure additional power supply.

“We have a capacity for 700 megawatts but what we receive sometimes is about 200 megawatts. That means  in essence, we are not getting enough power that we need to deliver to our customers.“
