Enugu, NIGERIA – Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has donated ₦50 million to the family of the late Lt. Col. O.C. Okolo, who was killed during a Boko Haram attack in Mandaragirau, Biu Local Government Area, on February 16, 2026.

The Governor was represented by his Special Adviser on Security, Brigadier General Abdullahi Sabi Ishaq (Rtd), who delivered the cash on behalf of the Borno State Government as part of a sustained effort to support the families of fallen heroes.
This intervention follows a recent ₦150 million donation by the Zulum administration to the families of three other military officers killed in separate attacks across Borno. Reaffirming his commitment to the welfare of security personnel, the Governor described the late Lt. Col. Okolo as a “gallant, dedicated, and committed officer” whose contributions to the nation would not be forgotten.
The spokesperson to the Governor, Dauda Iliya, confirmed on Saturday, April 11, 2026, that the administration remains dedicated to visiting and supporting the families of personnel killed or missing in action. Speaking for the bereaved family, Prof. Stanley Okolo expressed deep gratitude for the Governor’s compassion and the high-level delegation sent from Maiduguri to attend the burial.
