Taupyen Selchang, spokesman for Seme Customs Command told Premium Times that the raid was carried out by a combined team of officials.

“It was an operation carried out on Sunday 13th November by officers and men of the task force Compliance unit of the Federal Operation unit and the Marine section of the Nigerian Customs and a total of 1600 bags of rice brought into the country illegally was seized by the command”

Itekun Waterside at Ishasi is reputed to be one of the most notorious centres for smuggling in Lagos where boats loaded with rice are shipped into Nigeria from coastal points in Seme.
