The Kano State Police Command has declared a Chinese national, Mr Yang Zhong, wanted over alleged attempted murder of another Chinese.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Magaji Majiya, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano on Monday.

Majiya said that Zhong was declared wanted in connection with attempted murder of a Kano-based Chinese businessman, Mr Wu Haiwang, on July 17.

“Mr Yang Zhong, also a businessman, is suspected to be behind the murder attempt made on Mr Wu Haiwang,’’ he said.

The police spokesman said that Haiwang sustained much injuries.

“As a result, Mr Yang Zhong, holder of Passport No. G58738024, suspected to be the brain behind the murder attempt, has been declared wanted by the police,’’ Majiya said.

According to him, the Chinese embassy has been contacted to assist in tracking down Yang Zhong, who he described as the principal suspect.

He said that three other suspects had been arrested and charged to court in connection with the murder attempt while efforts were being made to arrest the remaining suspects.

NAN reports that Haiwang was attacked during a warehouse display of fuel dispensers when four persons arrived at the warehouse in a Volkswagen golf with Registration No. KSF 829AU and posed as customers.
