According to many reports, he was arrested based on tweets he posted a few months ago about attacks in Southern Kaduna that turned out to be false. His lawyer gave a statement indicating the circumstances around his arrest.
According to a report Audu was arrested in Lagos by a team of police officers attached to inspector-general monitoring and intelligence team and was immediately transferred to the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
