The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has named Ekiti state Governor Ayodele Fayose as an ”Honorary Governor” of Biafra.

In a statement signed by the media and publicity secretary of the group, Comrade Emma Powerful, the group said the title was in recognition of Fayose’s courage to openly show support to their leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

The Ekiti governor on 25 April showed up at the Federal High Court in Abuja in solidarity with the embattled IPOB leader.

”We acknowledge the contributions of the honorary Biafran Gov. Ayodele Fayose who did what no South East or South South governor had the courage to do,” the group stated.

The group also acknowledged former aviation ministers, Osita Chidoka and Femi Fani-Kayode; Professors Chukwuma Soludo and Pat Utomi; Senators Ike Ekweremadu and Enyinnaya Abaribe; and others who called for Kanu’s release.

Nnamdi Kanu was released from prison on Friday, April 28, after meeting what many called stringent bail conditions after spending over 18 months in detention.
