Athletic Bilbao have confirmed the appointment of former Sevilla Coach Eduardo Berizzo on a two on a 2 year deal, replacing Jose Angel Ziganda.

Berizzo, who was recovering from prostate cancer at the time of his sacking, is now the new man in the hot seat at San Mames.

The Basque giants are said to view the former Celta Vigo Coach as the ideal candidate to rekindle the approach of former tactician Marcelo Bielsa, who previously managed Athletic.

Ziganda, a former Bilbao Athletic Coach, replaced Barcelona-bound Ernesto Valverde in the position last summer, when Berizzo was reportedly a candidate before opting for Sevilla.

Berizzo began his managerial career at Argentinian club Estudiantes before moving to Chilean side O’Higgins in 2011, before replacing Luis Enrique at Celta Vigo in 2014.
