Getafe have completed the signing of Serbian midfielder Nemanja Maksimovic from Valencia for €5m.

Maksimović started his career at Slovenian side Domžale, where he played for two seasons before leaving for Astana. He spent two and a half years in the Premier League of Kazakhstan and joined Valencia on a five-year deal in the summer of 2017. The midfielder was among the heroes of Serbia’s U20 team that won the World Cup in 2015.

However, following the disappointment of being left out of the Serbia World Cup squad by coach Mladen Krstajic, Maksimović has now left Valencia after only a year, having made 21 appearances in all competitions and scored a single goal.

According to various reports, the contract the 23-year-old signed with Getafe is set to run for six years, with Valencia having a buy-back clause for the first three.
