The MTN Foundation has announced its partnership with Bolanle Austen-Peters Productions to bring “Motherland the Musical” to the Terra Kulture stage this holiday season.

The production, which runs from December 23 to January 2, 2023 at the Terra Kulture Arena in Lagos, aims to showcase Nigeria’s rich culture and history through a combination of music, dance, and storytelling.

“Motherland the Musical” tells the story of Nigeria’s past, present, and future and features a talented cast of seasoned actors including Gideon Okeke, Uzo Osimpka, Bamike Olawunmi-Adenibuyan, and Oluwatosin Adeyemi. The narrative is set in a town hall setting and addresses issues relevant to young Nigerians today.

The partnership between the MTN Foundation and Bolanle Austen-Peters Productions is in line with the Foundation’s efforts to support and promote the arts, as well as provide opportunities for young Nigerian creatives in the arts and culture industry.

The Executive Secretary of the MTN Foundation, Odunayo Sanya, commented on the partnership saying, “This partnership is in furtherance of the MTN Foundation’s goal to preserve Nigerian stories while positively showcasing Nigeria’s many beautiful cultures. At MTN Foundation, we believe that while we continue to evolve as a collective, we must not lose sight of our history and culture.”

This year, the MTN Foundation has invested over N380 million in more than 15 theater productions across Nigeria and has supported a number of arts and culture initiatives, including the Life in My City Art Festival and the Beeta Playwrights competition.

Some of the productions that have received support from the Foundation in the past include “Oluronbi the Musical,” “Saro the Musical,” “Fela and the Kalakuta Queens,” “Five Maids of Fadaka,” “OMG the Musical,” and “Flower the Musical.”
