Nigerian music sensation Omah Lay has made a triumphant return to Spotify with the deluxe version of his debut album, “Boy Alone.”

Released on June 16, the expanded album features six new tracks that effortlessly blend Afropop, R&B, Highlife, and Swing genres across its twenty captivating songs.

The newly added tracks—Reason, It’s Yours, Come Closer, Imagine with Aitch, Joanna, and the Soso Remix featuring Ozuna—have been strategically placed at the beginning of the album, ensuring listeners embark on a fresh and immersive musical journey.

Following the release of the original version in July 2022, Omah Lay’s artistic prowess shone through “Boy Alone,” impressively delving into the intricacies of fame with a depth rarely seen in Afrobeats. The album’s popularity is evident in Spotify’s data, which offers a glimpse into its global appeal.

While Omah Lay’s popularity is undeniable in Nigeria, the majority of his Spotify listeners hail from various corners of the world. Leading the pack is the United States, followed by France, the United Kingdom, Germany, and his home country, Nigeria.

Among his repertoire, the track Soso reigns supreme as the most streamed song, gaining particular popularity within the 18-34 demographic on a global scale. Additionally, his feature on People, a song by Libianca, featuring Ayra Starr, emerges as another standout track.

Victor Okpala, Spotify’s Artist and Label Partnerships Manager for West Africa, praises Omah Lay’s global reach, emphasizing the streaming platform’s commitment to supporting African talent and content. He highlights the immense power and accessibility that streaming offers, evident in Omah Lay’s meteoric rise.

The impact of the Soso remix featuring Ozuna is already making waves shortly after its release, securing the number four spot among Omah Lay’s top exported tracks for the 18-34 age group on Spotify.

Omah Lay’s music is featured on over 5.8 million user-generated playlists worldwide, with Nigeria contributing more than 300,000 playlists on Spotify alone. His songs “Understand” and “Soso” claim top positions as the most playlisted tracks globally and in Nigeria, respectively, showcasing his wide-ranging appeal.
