In a move that aims to strengthen public relations and communication within the Nigeria Police Force, the Acting Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, has reappointed Assistant Commissioner of Police Olumuyiwa Adejobi as the Force’s Public Relations Officer.

This decision comes following Adejobi’s recent promotion to the rank of ACP by the Police Service Commission.

The reappointment was officially confirmed through a posting communication bearing reference number TH.5361/FS/FHQ/ABJ/V.4/649, dated Tuesday, August 8, 2023.

The communication, issued from the office of the Force Secretary, solidified Adejobi’s role in leading the Force’s public relations efforts.

According to a statement from SP Anjuguri Manza, the Administrative Officer of the Force Public Relations Department, IG Egbetokun has charged ACP Adejobi with the responsibility of building upon his past achievements, particularly in advancing citizen-focused public relations initiatives through various media channels and specialized community engagements.

Adejobi brings a wealth of experience to his role, having held several significant positions within the Nigeria Police Force.

He served as the Police Public Relations Officer in the Ogun State Police Command from 2008 to 2016. Subsequently, he assumed the role of PPRO Zone 2 Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos, in 2016, and later served as PPRO for the Lagos State Police Command from September 2020 to August 2021.

In 2021, he held the position of Deputy Force Public Relations Officer at the Force Headquarters in Abuja. Notably, he most recently served as the Force Public Relations Officer before his reappointment.

Adejobi’s academic background includes a combined honours degree in Archaeology and Geography from the University of Ibadan, along with a Master’s Degree in Peace and Conflict Studies from the same institution.

He has consistently demonstrated a commitment to professional development and is a member of several esteemed organizations, such as the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, the International Public Relations Association, Pointman Leadership Institute in the USA, the International Association of Chiefs of Police in the USA, and the Institute of Corporate Administration in Nigeria.
