Aminu Maida was born in 1979 to the late Mallam Wada Maida, a distinguished figure from Katsina State who served as the Chief Press Secretary to former President Muhammadu Buhari during his tenure as the head of state. With such a lineage, Maida carries the legacy of a family that has played a significant role in Nigeria’s political and public affairs.

Educational Achievements

The new NCC boss, Aminu Maida, is not just a seasoned professional but a highly educated one. He holds an MEng in Information Systems Engineering from Imperial College London, an institution renowned for its excellence in technology and engineering. Furthermore, his pursuit of knowledge led him to earn a PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Bath, UK.

Before taking the helm at the NCC, Aminu Maida served in various capacities, gaining a wealth of experience in the technology and telecommunications sectors. Notably, he held the position of Executive Director of technology operations at Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System Plc (NIBSS). With a background in financial technology and telecoms, he has accumulated over 15 years of multifaceted and international experience.

Aminu Maida’s professional journey has been marked by a commitment to excellence and a relentless pursuit of innovation. Prior to his role at NIBSS, he served as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at the Nigerian-based FinTech company Arca Payments Network. In this capacity, he contributed to the advancement of financial technology solutions in Nigeria.

Furthermore, his international experience includes a senior management role at Cisco Systems UK, a global technology leader. Aminu Maida’s tenure at Cisco Systems UK reflects his ability to work at the forefront of enterprise technology and his understanding of the dynamic tech landscape.
