Manchester City secured a 3-1 victory over Young Boys, maintaining their perfect record in the competition this season.

The first half ended goalless, despite Manchester City’s domination and a series of missed opportunities. City was on top, creating chances, but struggled to find the back of the net. Rodri, Nunes, and Doku all had opportunities, but the home side’s defense held firm.

The second half brought a flurry of action. City opened the scoring in the 47th minute when Akanji prodded home a rebound from a corner.

However, Young Boys quickly responded, with Haaland cracking a shot that was saved, leading to a counter-attack and a goal by Elia.

The turning point came in the 65th minute when Grealish was fouled in the box, earning City a penalty. Haaland stepped up and made no mistake, scoring his first Champions League goal of the season.

City’s victory was momentarily in doubt when Young Boys scored a goal, but VAR intervened, overruling the goal due to a handball in the build-up. City regained control with Alvarez’s goal in the 74th minute, securing a 3-1 win.

Haaland, who scored City’s second goal, was substituted in the 89th minute after a productive night with 15 goals in the season. Sergio Gomez and Phillips replaced him and Rodri.

The match was a hard-fought contest, with Young Boys pushing City to the limit. Despite the challenges, City maintained their 100% record in the Champions League this season.

RB Leipzig’s victory over Red Star Belgrade also worked in City’s favor, leaving the gap to third place at eight points. City now sits in a promising position to advance to the knockout stage of the competition.

The defending champion, Manchester City is set to push harder in the quest for Champions League success again.
