The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) have issued directives to their members to initiate a nationwide strike in response to the assault on the President of the NLC, Joe Ajaero.

The decision to embark on the strike was announced after a meeting of the National Executive Council, where the unions expressed their collective outrage over the attack on Ajaero and called for immediate and decisive action.

Festus Osifo, the President of TUC, addressed reporters on Monday, November 13, declaring the commencement of the nationwide strike.

Osifo emphasized that the strike would persist until “government at all levels wake up to their responsibility.”
