The Super Eagles of Nigeria have set out for Ivory Coast, departing from the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos, for the highly anticipated African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament scheduled to commence on Saturday.

The team, resplendent in matching white caftans adorned with intricate green needlework around the necklines, showcased a fashion-forward homage to the national colors.

The departure, which took place around 10 am on Wednesday, saw players and officials exuding a sense of unity and pride in their stylish ensembles.

The green caps added a vibrant touch, completing the ensemble that reflects the spirit of patriotism and camaraderie among the squad.

The Super Eagles’ journey to Ivory Coast comes on the heels of a send-forth dinner hosted by Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos, on Tuesday evening.

The dinner provided an opportunity for the team to receive the blessings and support of the state leadership, further boosting their morale as they embark on the continental football spectacle.

Prior to their departure, the national team concluded a one-training camp in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), where they displayed remarkable prowess.

Nigeria secured a resounding 12-0 victory over Al Gharaib, a local club, before facing Guinea in their final friendly match, which ended in a 2-0 loss.

In Group A of the AFCON tournament, the Super Eagles will contend with Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea, and Guinea-Bissau.

Their first match is scheduled against Equatorial Guinea on January 14, followed by a clash with Ivory Coast four days later, and concluding the group stage with the Guinea-Bissau encounter.
