Fans of Nigerian cinema have reason to rejoice as news of a sequel to the iconic 2001 action film ‘Issakaba’ has been confirmed.

Actor Sam Dede took to Instagram on Saturday to announce the exciting development, revealing that production is underway with acclaimed filmmaker Lancelot Imasuen returning as director.

Dede, who portrayed the lead character in the original film, shared his enthusiasm for the project in his Instagram post, hinting at the return of the beloved characters and the continuation of the gripping storyline.

“ISSAKABA!!! The Myth returns. A RIVER DOES NOT FLOW THROUGH A FOREST WITHOUT BRINGING DOWN TREES. Men with evil minds lurk in the dark. But….. JUSTICE IS MINE,” he wrote.

Additionally, it has been revealed that Chidi Mokeme and former Big Brother Naija contestant, Unusual Phyna, have joined the cast, adding to the star-studded lineup.

‘Issakaba,’ an anagram for Bakassi, centers around a community vigilante gang known as the Bakassi Boys, dedicated to combating crimes such as armed robbery and murder.

Led by the fearless Ebube, portrayed by Dede, the Issakaba Boys confront armed robbers backed by mystical powers, embarking on a perilous journey to restore peace to their community.

The original film captivated audiences with its gripping narrative, intense action sequences, and memorable characters.

Now, 23 years later, the highly anticipated sequel promises to deliver a fresh perspective on the beloved franchise while staying true to its roots.
