Kenyan athlete Bernard Sang emerged triumphant at the prestigious Gold-Label 4km 2024 Access Bank Lagos City Marathon, crossing the finish line with an impressive time of 02:16:49 to claim the coveted $50,000 prize money.

The 32-year-old runner, who celebrates his 33rd birthday in five days, showcased remarkable prowess on the track, although he did not surpass his personal best Marathon time of 2:10:59 set in Istanbul (TUR) back in 2021.

Sang’s victory adds another chapter to the illustrious history of Kenyan dominance in the Gold-Label Access Bank Lagos City Marathon.

Kenyan athletes have previously clinched victory in the marathon in 2016, 2017, 2020, and 2021.

In a display of Kenyan excellence, Cheprot and Edwin Kiptoo secured the second and third positions, respectively, underscoring the nation’s strong performance in the Lagos Marathon.

On the women’s front, 25-year-old Kebene Chala of Ethiopia emerged as the first woman to cross the finish line, further highlighting the marathon’s status as a platform for global athletic talent.

The 2024 Access Bank Lagos City Marathon attracted over 81 world-class elite runners.
