Murja Kunya, a popular TikToker, has been remanded in prison following her arrest by the Kano Hisbah board on charges of alleged immoral acts. Aliyu Usman, chairman and officer in charge of operation ‘Kai da badala’ surveillance, confirmed the arrest, stating that Kunya was apprehended on Monday in the Tinshama area of Kano.

According to Usman, Kunya is accused of engaging in “immoral acts,” and she is scheduled to be arraigned before a Shari’ah court.

He mentioned that the TikTok content creator was arrested at her residence after a surveillance operation revealed her involvement in activities deemed contrary to Islamic teachings.

“She was arrested yesterday (Monday) late evening at her residence located at Tinshama area. We spent about three hours waiting for her before she finally showed up, and we picked her up,” Usman said.

“She is being charged with immoral acts, which she is widely known for. There is someone who every day comes around to pick her around 10 pm and will return her by 12 midnight or 1 am.”

A top Hisbah source later confirmed that Kunya has been arraigned before the Kano Shari’ah court and has been remanded in prison. The TikTok user is expected to appear in court again on February 20 for further proceedings.

“It is confirmed that she has been arrested and arraigned on Wednesday. She has been remanded in prison now. Maybe on the 20th this month, she will be back in court. She denied the seven charges against her yesterday,” the source stated.

This is not the first time Murja Kunya has faced legal issues related to alleged offenses contrary to Islamic teachings.

Last year, she was remanded in prison for similar charges, raising questions about her release and subsequent re-arrest for the same offenses.
