Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen is reportedly poised to exit the club this summer due to a lack of playing time under manager Erik ten Hag.
According to Danish outlet Ekstrabladet (via TEAMTalk), Eriksen has come to terms with the fact that his time at Old Trafford is drawing to a close, primarily due to being displaced by younger talents such as Kobbie Mainoo, Scott McTominay, and loanee Sofyan Amrabat in Ten Hag’s hierarchy.
Despite enjoying a regular starting role under the former Ajax coach in the previous season, the Danish international has found himself starting in only 11 out of 20 games across various competitions this season. With just one goal and two assists to his credit, Eriksen feels he is no longer integral to the team’s plans.
Eriksen reportedly perceives himself as ‘surplus to requirements’ under Ten Hag’s management and is prepared to express his desire to seek opportunities elsewhere.
With slightly over a year remaining on his contract, Manchester United may opt to sell the former Tottenham Hotspur star during the upcoming transfer window to avoid losing him on a free transfer.
