President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has underscored the gifted and resourceful nature of Nigerian youths during a meeting with delegates from Meta Platforms Incorporated, led by Sir Nick Clegg, the company’s President of Global Affairs.

The meeting, which took place on Thursday at the State House, witnessed discussions on fostering partnerships and leveraging technology for economic growth and youth empowerment in Nigeria.

Ajuri Ngelale, a presidential spokesperson, conveyed President Tinubu’s remarks, emphasizing Nigeria’s commitment to harnessing technology to drive prosperity across various sectors.

President Tinubu highlighted the importance of preparing Nigerian youth for an AI-enabled future, ensuring they are equipped to compete and thrive in the global economy.

He stated, “For us in Nigeria, we have a vibrant, gifted and resourceful youth population. Recognizing that the future is most likely to be AI-enabled, we have to prepare our youths and make them ready to compete and participate in the global economy. I can assure you that Nigeria is open for business.”

In response, Sir Nick Clegg affirmed Meta’s commitment to deepening partnerships in Nigeria. He announced Meta’s plans to introduce a feature on its Instagram app in June 2024, enabling Nigerian creators to monetize their content and earn a living through the platform.

“We have much to do with Nigeria to deepen partnerships,” Sir Clegg added.
