The online feud between Nigerian music heavyweights, Wizkid and Davido, escalated Monday night as both artists traded barbs and cryptic messages on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
The exchange began when Wizkid threw shade at Davido by posting a leaked video of the latter purportedly pleading with a female associate. Additionally, the Grammy award-winning artist dismissed music mogul Don Jazzy as merely an ‘influencer’, sparking controversy and speculation among fans.
In response, Davido fired back with a series of cryptic tweets believed to be aimed at his rival. One tweet, “Dem no know your Gbedu,” seemingly directed at Wizkid, coincided with Wizkid’s announcement of his upcoming album, ‘Morayo’, set to drop in May.
Continuing the exchange, Davido tweeted, “When light comes, darkness vanishes. Let get active,” hinting at a potential confrontation between the two artists.
Adding fuel to the fire, Davido posted a video of his wife, Chioma Adeleke, with the caption, “They were trying to distract us, baby no mind dem,” suggesting resilience amidst the online drama.
Unfazed by Davido’s response, Wizkid fired back with tweets asserting his dominance in the music industry, dismissing any claims of rivalry superiority by his counterpart.
The heated exchange culminated in Wizkid posting the leaked video of Davido once again, emphasizing his stance in the ongoing feud.
The rift between the two superstars comes as a surprise to many, considering their recent public display of camaraderie when they were spotted hugging in a Lagos nightclub. Moreover, Wizkid had previously announced plans for a joint tour with Davido, indicating a potential collaboration despite their apparent differences.
