Justice Abdullahi Muhammad Liman of the Federal High Court, Kano Division, has scheduled May 28 for the hearing of a substantive application filed by Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), challenging his suspension from the party.

Ganduje’s suspension saga began on April 15 when he was initially suspended by APC ward executives led by Haladu Gwanjo. However, another faction emerged on April 20, announcing his suspension, which further complicated the situation. The secretary of the party in Kano, Zakari Sarina, denounced the second suspension, labeling it a case of impersonation.

Through his legal representative, Hadiza Nasir Ahmad, Ganduje is seeking legal recourse, arguing that his suspension without a chance to defend himself violates his fundamental right to fair hearing. He also contends that his suspension by the faction is unlawful, null, and void.

In a recent court proceeding, Ganduje’s counsel applied for service on the respondents by substituted means, which Justice Liman granted. The court has adjourned the matter to May 28 for a comprehensive hearing.
