Abuja DisCo Issues Disconnection Warning to Police, Defence HQ, Others Over Unpaid Bills

The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has issued a stern warning to several high-profile institutions, including the Defence Headquarters and the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters, over unpaid electricity bills. In a notice released on Saturday, AEDC set a deadline of June 3rd, 2024, for these customers to settle their debts or face disconnection.

Among those listed are the Kogi and Niger State governments, along with various federal ministries and agencies. AEDC emphasized the critical nature of timely bill payments for maintaining and improving their infrastructure, ensuring they can continue to provide efficient and reliable services to the community.

The full list of debtors as released by AEDC includes:

AEDC reiterated the importance of these payments, noting that “Timely payment of electricity bills is crucial for the continued operation and enhancement of AEDC’s infrastructure, ensuring we can deliver efficient and reliable service to our community.”

The notice comes as AEDC continues to face challenges in collecting payments, which are vital for the operational sustainability of the power distribution network.
