Real Madrid secured their 15th Champions League title with a hard-fought 2-0 win against Borussia Dortmund. Despite entering the match as favorites, Real Madrid faced a formidable challenge from the Bundesliga side, who dominated the first half.

The LaLiga champions had to weather an early storm as Dortmund controlled proceedings, with players like Julian Brandt, Niclas Füllkrug, and Karim Adeyemi creating several scoring opportunities. However, Dortmund failed to capitalize on their chances, with Füllkrug’s effort hitting the post.

Real Madrid struggled to find their rhythm in the first half, with former Dortmund player Jude Bellingham neutralized by his former teammates. Nevertheless, they managed to regroup during halftime, with coach Carlo Ancelotti urging his players to stay calm.

The turning point came in the second half when Real Madrid began to assert their dominance. Full-back Dani Carvajal broke the deadlock with his first Champions League goal since 2015, before Vinícius Júnior sealed the victory with a goal in the 83rd minute.

Despite the defeat, Dortmund showcased a commendable performance, leaving Madrid grateful for the victory. The match also marked a farewell for two German legends, as Marco Reus made his final appearance for Dortmund, while Madrid’s Toni Kroos bid farewell to the club before retirement.

Reflecting on the victory, Ancelotti praised his team’s resilience, emphasizing the importance of winning six Champions League titles in the last ten years. Real Madrid’s victory adds another chapter to their illustrious history in European football.
