Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Radda, has pledged to defeat banditry in the state following a recent attack in Gidan Boka village, Kankara Local Government Area, which claimed 26 lives.

The incident occurred on Sunday, June 9, and left two others wounded. The governor extended condolences to the families of the victims and praised the security forces’ efforts in combating criminal elements.

Radda assured that his administration is committed to eradicating banditry and criminality, working closely with the Federal Government and security agencies to implement a comprehensive security strategy. He promised a heightened security presence in vulnerable areas and enhanced intelligence gathering to proactively identify and disrupt criminal activities.

The governor acknowledged the root causes of insecurity, such as poverty and lack of opportunity, and assured continued investment in development programs to create jobs and empower communities. He urged anyone with information about the perpetrators to come forward and called for unity and resolve among Katsina residents to build a safer future for the state.

The Katsina State Police Command has deployed additional operational assets to the area and is working with stakeholders to prevent further occurrences and arrest the perpetrators.
