Tobi Amusan has secured her fourth consecutive national title in the women’s 100 meters hurdles event at the national Olympic trials.

The 27-year-old dominated the final on Monday, finishing with an impressive time of 12.78 seconds, far ahead of her competitors in a one-sided race.

Amusan’s victory continues her streak of national titles, having previously triumphed at the Olympic trials in Lagos in 2021 and winning twice in Benin in the last two years.

Her performance cements her status as the leading hurdler in Nigeria and a strong contender on the international stage.

In the women’s 100 meters, 21-year-old Favour Ofili clinched the national title with a season-best time of 11.06 seconds, securing her automatic qualification for the Paris Olympics.

Ofili’s victory saw her finish ahead of Olayinka Olajide, who came second with a time of 11.37 seconds, and Justina Eyakpobeyan, who finished third.

The men’s 100 meters crown was claimed by Kanyinsola Ajayi, who clocked a blistering 10.14 seconds. Ajayi edged out Alaba Akintola, who finished in 10.16 seconds, and Usheoritse Itsekiri, who took third place.

In the men’s shot put, Chukwuebuka Enekwechi won his fourth consecutive national title with a dominant performance.

Enekwechi’s mark of 21.37 meters, achieved in just three attempts, was insurmountable by his opponents, securing his place as Nigeria’s top shot putter.
