The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has condemned the recent bombings in Borno State, describing them as a desperate attempt by terrorists to project strength amidst their declining influence. According to Major General Edward Buba, Director Defence Media Operations, the attacks were a response to the military’s recent successes in decapitating the terrorist leadership and depleting their resources.

The bombings, which occurred in the Gworza Local Government Area, resulted in 20 deaths and 52 injuries. The military imposed a curfew to prevent further casualties, but the terrorists continued to attack, targeting troops enforcing the curfew. The DHQ expressed condolences to the families of the victims and commiserated with those injured.

The military views the attacks as a sign of weakness, not strength, and urges citizens to stand united and vigilant in the face of terrorism. The fate of the perpetrators, according to the DHQ, will be “violent and short” as troops will stop at nothing to eliminate them.
