Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has suspended the Chairman of Machina Local Government Council, Idrissa Bukar-Machina, just four weeks after his election and inauguration.

The suspension was announced in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Baba Mallam-Wali, citing acts of misconduct and insubordination as reasons.

The suspension takes immediate effect, and Bukar-Machina has been directed to hand over the affairs of the local government to his vice chairman pending further directives.

This sudden move comes after Bukar-Machina’s recent election and swearing-in alongside sixteen other council chairmen in the state.
