President Bola Tinubu has extended his congratulations to the newly elected president of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Afam Osigwe, on his emergence as the new leader of lawyers in the country.

The President also congratulated all newly elected officers of the NBA.

The President’s message was conveyed in a statement on Monday, signed by his special adviser on media and publicity, Ajuri Ngelale.

Tinubu, while congratulating the NBA on the successful conduct of their elections, also commended the outgoing NBA president, Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau (SAN), for his service.

“President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Mazi Afam Josiah Osigwe (SAN) on his election as the President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA). The President also congratulated all newly elected officers of the NBA and members of the association on a successful conduct of the elections,” the statement read.

“President Tinubu commended the outgoing NBA President, Mr. Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau (SAN), on his stewardship of Nigeria’s foremost legal association. The President assured the new leadership of the NBA of his administration’s support in addressing challenges affecting the association and the legal profession in general.”

Former general secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Afam Osigwe, emerged as the president-elect in the 2024 NBA election.
