The Nigerian senior women’s football team, the Super Falcons, have retained their position as the top-ranked women’s football team in Africa and 36th globally in the latest FIFA rankings.

Despite a disappointing performance at the Women’s Summer Olympics football event in Paris, France, where they failed to progress to the quarterfinals, the team maintained their ranking.

In the African rankings, South Africa follows Nigeria in 50th place, while Morocco, Zambia, and Ghana occupy the 59th, 62nd, and 66th spots, respectively. The top 10 women’s football teams globally remain unchanged, with the United States, England, Spain, Germany, Sweden, Canada, Japan, Brazil, Korea DPR, and France leading the pack.

The Super Falcons’ performance at the Olympics was marked by three consecutive defeats, including losses to Brazil, Spain, and Japan. However, they have managed to maintain their position in the FIFA rankings, indicating their consistent performance in women’s football.
