Paris Saint Germain (PSG) has decided not to pursue the transfer of Napoli’s star striker, Victor Osimhen, along with other potential targets this summer.

This decision was confirmed by PSG’s manager, Luis Enrique, who expressed his contentment with the current squad despite recent setbacks.

The French club, which has already invested a cumulative €175 million ($195 million) in four new players this summer (excluding bonuses), is yet to find a replacement for Kylian Mbappé, the club’s all-time top goalscorer, who departed for Real Madrid after his contract expired.

However, Enrique has indicated that PSG will not be seeking further reinforcements, including Osimhen, who was previously considered a strong candidate to fill the void left by Mbappé. The Nigerian striker had also attracted interest from Chelsea, but PSG was reportedly the frontrunner before deciding against making an official approach.

The club’s resolve was further tested when Gonçalo Ramos, Portugal’s forward, sustained an injury early in last week’s 4-1 victory over Le Havre in Ligue 1. Despite the setback, Enrique remains confident in his squad’s abilities.

“Unfortunately, Gonçalo picked up an injury. It is a blow, but we still have a very good team and I have full confidence in the players in my squad,” Enrique told reporters ahead of PSG’s first home game of the season against Montpellier on Friday.

He added, “The president (Nasser al-Khelaifi), (sporting director) Luis Campos, and I are always open to improving the squad, but it is very, very difficult to strengthen the team that we have.”
