President Bola Tinubu has officially sworn in seven new ministers-designate during a ceremony held on Monday in the council chamber of the Aso Rock Villa.

The newly appointed ministers are set to fill critical roles within the administration, strengthening Tinubu’s cabinet following recent changes.

The confirmation of these ministers by the Senate took place after an extensive screening exercise conducted by the committee of the whole last week.

During the session, senators engaged the appointees in hours of questioning, focusing on the portfolios that had been designated to them by the president.

Among those confirmed are:

  • Nentawe Yilwatda as the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation,
  • Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi as the Minister of Labour and Employment,
  • Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu as the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs,
  • Yusuf Abdullahi Ata as the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development.

Also sworn in were Idi Mukhtar Maiha as the Minister of Livestock Development, Jumoke Oduwole as the Minister of Trade and Investment, and Suwaiba Said Ahmad as the Minister of State for Education.

The recent appointments come just two weeks after President Tinubu dismissed five ministers, creating vacancies that these new officials are now filling.
