Nestlé Nigeria has officially opened applications for its annual Community Scholarship Program, reaffirming its commitment to supporting high-achieving senior secondary and tertiary students from communities around its operations.

This initiative, aimed at students pursuing Science and Technology studies, provides financial support covering tuition, accommodation, uniforms, books, and other essential educational needs.

Since the program’s inception in 2020, Nestlé has continuously extended support to students in its host communities, ensuring they have the resources to excel academically.

This year, 90 indigenes will receive grants amounting to N18 million. The application portal opens on November 5, 2024, and will remain open until December 8, 2024.

Victoria Uwadoka, Corporate Communications, Public Affairs, and Sustainability Lead for Nestlé Nigeria, highlighted the company’s dedication to creating shared value, linking Nestlé’s success to the prosperity of its communities.

She encouraged scholarship recipients to maintain high academic standards, stating, “These scholarships reflect our unwavering dedication to investing in the future of our youth. At a time when economic challenges place added strain on families nationwide, we’re proud to provide meaningful financial support that eases this burden. By investing in education, we’re not only empowering individual students but also fostering the growth and prosperity of our entire community.”

The call for entries was announced at an award ceremony for the 2023/2024 batch, where 65 students from schools in Abaji, Agbara, and Sagamu received scholarships.

Adeyemi Gbenga Daniel, a mechanical engineering student at the University of Lagos and one of the scholarship recipients, expressed gratitude, saying, “This scholarship empowers us to pursue our dreams, fuels our passion for learning, and helps us explore opportunities that might have otherwise been out of reach.”

Traditional leaders from recipient communities, including the Ona of Abaji, Alagbara of Agbara, and Akarigbo of Remo Land, represented by their chiefs, praised Nestlé for its commitment to the Creating Shared Value (CSV) initiatives, which benefit their communities.

They acknowledged the positive impact of Nestlé’s support on youth empowerment and educational development, pledging continued support for the company’s operations.

As Nestlé continues to invest in educational opportunities, it remains focused on nurturing young talent, fostering academic excellence, and shaping a brighter future for Nigeria’s next generation of leaders and innovators.
