Ruben Amorim, Manchester United’s new manager, claimed his first Premier League victory in emphatic fashion with a 4-0 demolition of Everton on Sunday.

The result extended Amorim’s unbeaten start at the club to three matches and offered fans a glimpse of a promising turnaround.

Amorim, who joined United from Sporting Lisbon in November following the sacking of Erik ten Hag, had warned that the team would endure a “long period of suffering” before becoming title contenders.

However, Sunday’s dominant performance suggests the Portuguese coach is laying the foundation for a resurgence.

Marcus Rashford opened the scoring in the 34th minute with a deflected drive that left Everton’s defense scrambling.

United doubled their lead seven minutes later when Joshua Zirkzee, handed a rare start ahead of Rasmus Hojlund, converted a chance created by Amad Diallo and Bruno Fernandes. The goal ended Zirkzee’s 17-game drought since joining from Bologna.

Just 20 seconds into the second half, Rashford struck again, finishing off an incisive pass from Diallo for his seventh goal of the season. Zirkzee completed the rout in the 64th minute, capitalizing on Everton’s defensive errors with another composed finish, again assisted by Diallo.

Amorim’s arrival has already begun to instill confidence at United, following a 1-1 draw with Ipswich in his Premier League debut and a 3-2 Europa League win over Bodo/Glimt at Old Trafford.

The match was not without controversy, as fans gathered outside Old Trafford to protest recent ticket price hikes, holding banners that read, “Stop Exploiting Loyalty.”

Despite the discontent, ninth-placed United’s convincing performance hinted at a brighter future under Amorim’s leadership.
