Popular Nigerian filmmaker and comedian Ayo Makun, widely known as AY, has voiced his frustration over the lack of support from fellow men in the entertainment industry, despite his hard work and dedication.

Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) account, AY lamented the challenges male filmmakers face in receiving support, adding that men seem to prefer supporting women over their male counterparts.

“One day men go tell man ‘wetin man do man.’ We work so hard to stay relevant and take care of our responsibilities. Must we have breasts and yansh to have the support of our fellow men?” AY wrote.

The comedian further claimed that he is the only male Nigerian filmmaker who has yet to quit the industry due to a lack of support. “I am still the only man left in the business of filmmaking who is yet to give it all up,” he added.

AY, who has established himself as one of Nigeria’s most successful comedians and filmmakers, is known for blockbuster productions such as 30 Days in Atlanta, A Trip to Jamaica, and Merry Men.
