A 12-year-old girl has been arrested after allegedly trying to poison her mother twice because her iPhone was taken away.
Police in Boulder, Colorado, said a mother noticed a bleach smell in her finished smoothie and soon fell sick.
But authorities said when the sickness passed and she noticed the same smell coming from a jug of water in her room, she confronted her daughter – who told her she was trying to kill the woman for confiscating her iPhone.
‘It’s pretty scary,’ Commander Heidi Prentum, of Boulder County Police, told KDVR.
The girl is now being held at the Juvenile Center on two charges of attempted first-degree murder.
A neighbor, Luciana Cordova, said: ‘It seems a little bit of an outrageous reaction to having your phone taken away, but I think it’s also reflecting of how our teens and our kids are so dependent on that, that they’d be willing to those extremes.’
