The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has agreed to temporarily suspend its planned nationwide protest against the recent 50 percent increase in telecommunications tariffs, following a resolution reached during a meeting with federal government representatives on Monday.

The meeting, chaired by key officials from both parties, resulted in the establishment of a 10-member committee, comprising five members each from the government and the NLC, to address the contentious tariff hike.

According to the agreement, the committee will review the tariff hike report and propose solutions aimed at balancing the interests of telecom operators and consumers. The findings and recommendations from the committee are expected to be submitted within two weeks.
