Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has voiced concerns over critical issues affecting the country’s youth.

In a video circulating online, she highlighted the alarming ignorance among some parents and young girls, particularly those who believe they can sell their babies for financial gain. She described this as a heartbreaking reality that reflects deeper societal challenges.

She expressed deep concern over the situation, emphasizing that in a country as populous as Nigeria, the strain on already limited resources only exacerbates the crisis.

“There is just a lot of ignorance going on with parents and with young girls, thinking that they can sell their babies to get some money. I think it is really very sad and it breaks my heart to even think about what’s going on. Nigeria is a country where the population, I don’t think, is helping us and especially with the resources we have.”

“We have to really teach our people patience. The get rich quick syndrome that is really flying everywhere, even in our places of worship, prosperity preaching, it’s not helping matters.”

Jesus, as a central figure in Christianity, recognized that His Father is constantly at work, and He too must keep working. He understood that a time would come when work would no longer be possible, whether due to age or other limitations. While aging may reduce a person’s pace, it doesn’t mean they should stop being productive entirely.

“I think our young people have to be given a different reorientation of hard work and patience. Even the holy book says you run through life’s journey with patience. Social media too is not helping.”
