On Sunday, Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, cautioned teachers, halting them from engaging students in hard labour, on school grounds and outside.

This is revealed on Monday in a statement tendered by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Dawakin-Tofa.

The governor buttressed that schools are not for manual Labour rather for education and moral guidance.

The governor had seen students digging a toilet pipeline in an unscheduled visit to the School for Arabic Studies in Kano.

Vividly showed, the governor asked the headmaster about issuing such duty to students.

The headmaster replied that the duty was tendered after school hours.

On the other hand Governor Yusuf ordered the practice to stop immediately.

The governor gave assurance to the school management that his government would repair all dilapidated buildings, including the attached mosque.

He also ordered that any school projects be relayed to the Ministry of Education or his office for execution.

The governor later inspected ongoing reconstruction projects at Kano Printing Press, which were damaged during the End-Bad-Governance protests.

He ordered the contractor to comply directly to the contract, revealing his views that some structures did not corroborate with government standards.
