Zimbabwean national team forward, Knowledge Musona, has voiced strong confidence in his team’s ability to achieve victories against both Benin Republic and Nigeria in the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches.
Currently, the Warriors, under the leadership of Michael Nees, are seeking their first win in the qualification campaign. They currently hold the last position in Group C, with two points earned from four games.

The team is set to play Benin Republic at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, South Africa, on Thursday, followed by a trip to face Nigeria at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo next Tuesday. Musona, upon rejoining the squad, conveyed his belief that Zimbabwe can secure wins in both fixtures.

“It’s great to be back with the team, and I’m very excited for these matches. My initial training session went well, and I’m impressed by the talent I’ve seen,” Musona told Zimbabwean media outlet NewsDay. “I see a promising future for the Warriors, and I’m committed to assisting the younger players and contributing to their growth.

“Anything can happen in football, and our focus is on the next game against Benin. Our priority is to secure a win before we turn our attention to Nigeria. “Given the quality within this squad, I’m confident we can achieve maximum points. It will depend on the dedication we show in training and, crucially, in the matches themselves. “I have great faith in this team, and I personally hope we can win both games to keep our aspirations for World Cup qualification alive.”
