The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has assured all prospective candidates for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) that they will sit for the exam within their registered state.

This guarantee was provided by JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, in Abuja. He clarified that while some candidates experienced taking the mock UTME outside their state due to limited Computer-Based Test (CBT) center availability, this was an exception specific to the mock exercise.

Dr. Benjamin explained that during the mock examination, candidates might have been redirected to available centers in neighboring states if those within their registered state were fully occupied.

However, he firmly stated that this scenario would not occur during the main UTME scheduled to begin on April 25, 2025. He assured that a greater number of operational CBT centers would be available for the main examination, ensuring all candidates are accommodated within their state of registration.

Furthermore, Dr. Benjamin emphasized the advantage of early registration in securing a test center closer to a candidate’s residence. He noted that while JAMB strives to assign candidates to centers within their locality, those who register later might be assigned to any available center within their registered state if closer options are already filled.

JAMB also reported that over 2 million candidates have successfully registered for the 2025 UTME and that the board is now focused on implementing stringent anti-cheating measures, including the arrest of individuals attempting admission fraud with forged credentials.
