The remains of renowned Nigerian businessman and philanthropist, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata, were laid to rest on Tuesday at the historic Baqiyya Cemetery in Madinah, Saudi Arabia.

Okay.ng reports that Dantata, who passed away on Saturday in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, was honoured with funeral prayers held at the Holy Prophet’s Mosque following the Asr prayer.

The solemn Janazah (funeral prayer) drew a large gathering of worshippers, friends, family, and dignitaries.

Among those present at the funeral were President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, and billionaire businessman Femi Otedola, who joined mourners to pay their last respects.

Alhaji Aminu Dantata’s burial in Madinah fulfills a long-cherished wish of the elder statesman, who had expressed a desire to be laid to rest in the city of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Back in Nigeria, tributes have continued to pour in for the late patriarch. President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and the Northern Governors’ Forum were among prominent figures who mourned Dantata’s passing, lauding his contributions to Nigeria’s economic growth and social development.

In Kano, where Dantata’s legacy is deeply rooted, Muslim clerics and sympathisers gathered to offer funeral prayers in absentia at the Umar bn Khattab Mosque along Zaria Road, Gyadi-Gyadi, as a mark of honour.
