The Independent National Electoral Commission has formally issued the notice for the Anambra State governorship election scheduled for November 8, 2025.
INEC’s Public Relations Officer in the state, Mrs. Ugomma Lechukwu, announced the development while briefing journalists in Awka on Sunday.
Lechukwu said the notice was in line with the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2010 (as amended), which mandates the commission to give official notice ahead of any election.
“Notice is hereby given that election to the office of the governorship shall be held on November 8, 2025,” she stated.
According to her, voting will commence at 8:30 a.m. and close by 2:30 p.m., with each voter required to cast their ballot at their respective polling units of registration.
Lechukwu clarified that only those whose names appear on the register of voters and possess valid voter cards will be eligible to participate in the election.
Reports from the News Agency of Nigeria indicate that 16 candidates will contest the election, comprising 14 men and two women.
