Nigerian reality star and entrepreneur Tacha Akide has officially entered the Guinness World Records (GWR) after setting two global records for the most cosmetic makeovers in eight hours and in 24 hours, marking a milestone achievement for African creatives in the global beauty industry.

In a statement released by Guinness World Records on Wednesday, the organization confirmed that Tacha achieved the eight-hour record by completing 82 makeovers and the 24-hour record with 144 makeovers, surpassing the previous world record of 111 makeovers set by Sierra Leone’s Mary Yongai in November 2024.

Okay News reports that Tacha’s record-breaking attempt was anything but easy. The reality star, known for her resilience and larger-than-life personality, revealed that a nine-hour storm nearly derailed the event, destroying her setup and forcing her team to rebuild the venue mid-challenge.

“We faced a nine-hour storm that disrupted everything. The rain poured so heavily that our screens, monitors, and branding fell apart. The wind scattered the setup, and we had to rebuild the venue from scratch mid-event,” Tacha said.

Despite the chaos, the 24-hour session continued under extreme conditions, including multiple power outages.

“The lights went off three or four times, but I refused to stop. My team turned on their phone flashlights, and I kept doing makeovers in the dark. It wasn’t just about makeup anymore; it was about proving that nothing could stop us,” she added.

Tacha said she drew strength from her supporters, her assistants, and the hundreds who gathered to cheer her on throughout the marathon.

“The people kept me going. My makeup artist assistants, the crowd cheering outside gave me energy, and every model that sat in my chair became a new canvas, a new spark of motivation. Each face reminded me why I started,” she said.

Driven by her desire to inspire, the reality star said the attempt was about breaking boundaries and showing that “limits are illusions.”

“I knew so many women and young girls were watching, waiting to see if I could do it. Every time fatigue set in, I reminded myself that I wasn’t just painting faces — I was painting a story of possibility,” she shared.

Dedicating her success to young girls, creatives, and dreamers, Tacha said her record belongs to everyone who has ever faced rejection but chose to persevere.

“This record isn’t just mine. It belongs to every girl child who has ever dared to start over, every creative who has ever been doubted, every person who has been disqualified but refused to give up, and every dreamer who still believes that greatness can come from anywhere,” she said.

“I want my story to remind the world that greatness has no geography, and that Africa’s creative power deserves to be seen, celebrated, and remembered.”
