Okay News reports that Ondo State has reinforced corps welfare by renewing support for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), as Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa pledged improved safety and living conditions for corps members in the state.
The commitment to corps welfare was announced on 22 November 2025 during the swearing-in of the 2025 Batch C corps members at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Ikare Akoko, where the governor confirmed the approval of a new 216-bed hostel for the permanent camp.
Aiyedatiwa stated that the new facility demonstrates his administration’s resolve to enhance corps welfare by providing more secure and comfortable accommodation for new intakes posted to the state.
He further assured that the government will continue working with security agencies to maintain peace across communities, reinforcing the broader agenda of corps welfare through safety and stability.
Represented by the Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, Hon. Segun Henry Omoyofunmi, the governor urged corps members to uphold discipline and service to humanity—values central to strengthening corps welfare in the state.
He also encouraged participants to take the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme seriously, noting that practical training plays a key role in boosting employability and long-term corps welfare outcomes.
The State Coordinator of NYSC, Mrs. Kuburat Omowumi Bakare, expressed appreciation to the governor for his continuous support, describing the newly approved hostel as a major step toward improving corps welfare and overall camp infrastructure.
She appealed to employers and community leaders to cultivate a supportive environment that sustains corps welfare for members serving across various establishments.
Bakare also commended security agencies and camp officials for their contributions to the orientation exercise, highlighting their role in safeguarding corps welfare and ensuring the programme runs smoothly.
Looking ahead, Okay News reports that the state government plans to deepen its collaboration with federal institutions and community stakeholders to ensure corps welfare remains a central priority in future policy actions.
