The Catholic Diocese of Kontagora in Niger State has published the names of 50 students who escaped after being abducted during the attack on St. Mary’s School, located in the Papiri community of Agwara Local Government Area, Okay News reports.

Armed men invaded the school on November 21, abducting 315 people, including 303 students and 12 teachers, in one of the country’s largest school kidnappings in recent years.

Earlier, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Niger State confirmed that fifty pupils managed to flee between Friday and Saturday and “quietly reunited with their families”.

According to Bulus Dauwa Yohanna, Chairman of CAN in Niger State and Bishop of the Kontagora Diocese, the children did not immediately return to the school but were traced after officials contacted and visited their parents.
