Large parts of Nigeria’s capital city, including major institutions, residential communities and business districts, have been hit by a power outage following a technical fault on the feeder serving the affected areas, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) announced on Tuesday.

In a public notice issued on November 25, 2025, AEDC listed dozens of impacted locations, including Gwagwalada Village, Giri Village, the University of Abuja Staff Quarters, University of Abuja Permanent Site, 50 Space Command Army Barracks, Iddo, Sarki, Gui Village, Gbesse, Gosa Leg, Kukara, Bassa Jiwa, Sauka, and Peggi.

Other major areas affected include Grandpela, American International School, Sentinel, Durumi Extension, Christ Embassy, Lacasera, Ayuba Waba, Games Village, National Stadium, Indoor Complex, Tulsi Eye Clinic, and surrounding neighbourhoods.

Okay News reports that the outage, which began earlier in the day, has disrupted residential and commercial activities across the listed communities.

In its statement, AEDC said the power cut was caused by a technical issue on the network.

“The current power outage is due to a technical fault affecting the feeder serving your area. Our technical team is working tirelessly to restore power supply as quickly as possible,” the company wrote.

The distribution company apologised for the inconvenience, assuring customers that restoration efforts were ongoing.

“We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience and understanding,” the statement added.
