NDLEA Executes Nationwide Operations, Seizes Massive Tramadol And Cannabis

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Nigeria’s federal drug-control body, have recovered over 7.6 million tramadol tablets and 76,273.4 kilograms of cannabis variants in a series of coordinated raids across multiple states.

Okay News reports that the operations targeted warehouses, vehicles and forest hideouts based on actionable intelligence. In Delta State, officers retrieved at least 3.874 million tramadol tablets and 252.2 litres of codeine syrup from a facility in Asaba, while another 1.2 million tramadol tablets were seized from a vehicle intercepted in Imo State.

In Adamawa State, NDLEA agents stopped a Toyota Hiace bus carrying more than 1.57 million tramadol capsules concealed inside bags mixed with sandals and slippers. Two suspects, Kabiru Buba and Hamza Abubakar, were arrested. Another arrest followed in Kano State where 197,000 Exol-5 tablets were recovered from a passenger along the Zaria–Kano road.

Ekiti State recorded major disruptions with operatives destroying 14,654 kilograms of skunk in Omuo-Ekiti and arresting two suspects. A separate raid in Asin-Ekiti led to the demolition of two warehouses containing 54,300 kilograms of skunk, while 28.3 kilograms were retained for prosecution.

Ondo State operations yielded 5,442 kilograms of compressed skunk and five arrests after officers stormed a forest location in Akure North. In Niger State, 500 kilograms of skunk were seized from a vehicle on the Mokwa–Jebba road, and the driver was detained. In the Federal Capital Territory, agents intercepted 22 kilograms of Colorado and later arrested a female receiver during a follow-up operation.

Lagos Command recovered 113 kilograms of Canadian Loud and several hundred kilograms of skunk from multiple locations, leading to three arrests. Edo State operations produced 447.5 kilograms from two vehicles and 315.8 kilograms from a warehouse in Ohuwunde, with one suspect apprehended.

NDLEA continued its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitisation programme, engaging students, staff and community groups across Kano, Benue and Rivers States.

Chairman Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd) commended the officers for the sustained operational tempo, noting that the agency remains focused on supply-reduction while strengthening demand-reduction initiatives.
