The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has expressed deep sorrow over the sudden death of Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, who reportedly collapsed earlier on Friday and was later confirmed dead.
In a statement issued by its Director of Media and Strategic Communications, Yunusa Tanko Abdullahi, the NGF described the late deputy governor as a “dedicated public servant and worthy deputy” whose leadership style and devotion to Bayelsa State left a lasting impact.
NGF Chairman and Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, paid glowing tribute to Ewhrudjakpo, noting that his values and public service ethos were exemplary.
“His unwavering commitment to good governance, social justice, and the welfare of his people stood as a testament to his character and leadership. His contributions to the development of Bayelsa State will be fondly remembered,” AbdulRazaq stated.
The Forum extended heartfelt condolences to Bayelsa State Governor Senator Douye Diri, the government and people of Bayelsa State, as well as the family and friends of the deceased. It prayed that his legacy of humility, service, and dedication would continue to inspire future leaders despite what it described as an “irreparable loss.”
